Women on Boards initiative

In a media discussion about the Women on Boards directive, it was highlighted that the regulation aims to increase the share of women in the governing bodies of the largest publicly listed companies in the EU (targets: 40% in supervisory boards or 33% jointly in management and supervisory boards). Prof. Dominika Hadro from WUEB emphasises that the directive is not about a “mechanical replacement” of people, but about transparent, non-discriminatory recruitment procedures and priority for the underrepresented gender when candidates have equal qualifications.
