At an official ceremony held at the Ministry of Science, Professor Katarzyna Piwowar-Sulej received a prestigious distinction in recognition of her achievements in scientific activity. The award confirms her position as a leading scholar in the discipline of management and quality sciences, particularly in the area of human capital transformation.

Professor Piwowar-Sulej’s research focuses on the intersection of human resource management, leadership and sustainable development. As a WUEB expert, she examines in her publications the effectiveness of measures directed at employees and aimed at building organisations that are both competitive and socially and environmentally responsible. At the same time, her work provides valuable guidance on how to prepare the workforce for changing conditions, including technological change.
The award recipient’s scholarly output includes more than 200 publications, including articles in leading international journals (including Journal of Business Ethics, Human Resource Management, and Personnel Review). Her work has received multiple awards, including the Emerald Literati Award, and in 2024 and 2025 she was listed among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists (Elsevier/Stanford).
The distinction highlights the measurable contribution of her projects to the development of academic and applied standards at the international level.
Professor Katarzyna Piwowar-Sulej
is Professor of Social Sciences in the discipline of management and quality sciences, affiliated with the Department of Labour, Capital and Innovation at the Faculty of Management, Wrocław University of Economics and Business (WUEB).
She completed her doctoral degree in 2009 and obtained her habilitation in 2016 on the basis of the monograph People Management in Project-Oriented Organisations. She was awarded the title of Professor of Social Sciences on 29 May 2023.
Professor Piwowar-Sulej’s research focuses on sustainable human resource management, leadership, innovation, and management in project-oriented organisations. She is the author of more than 200 publications, including papers in leading journals such as Journal of Business Ethics, International Journal of Human Resource Management, Human Resource Management, Personnel Review, Review of Managerial Science, and Management Decision. Her work has received multiple awards, including the Emerald Literati Award, and in 2024 and 2025 she was included in the Elsevier/Stanford ranking of the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists.
She has led projects and participated in numerous competitively funded research projects. She is currently involved in grants funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), the Polish National Agency for Academic Exchange (NAWA), and an inter-university research grant of Polish universities of economics.
Professor Piwowar-Sulej serves on the editorial boards of international journals and reviews manuscripts for recognised international academic publishers.
Within WUEB, she is a member, among others, of the Committee for Strategic Management, the Discipline Council for Management and Quality Sciences, the Publishing Council, and the Doctoral School Council.
