Professor Marek Kośny is a Professor of Social Sciences whose work focuses on quantitative methods, data analytics, and decision-modelling in social and economic policy. He serves as Vice-Rector for Research at the Wrocław University of Economics and Business and as Chair of the Scientific Council of the Polish Economic Society. He is also a member of the Statistical Council to the Prime Minister and of the Scientific Council of the Institute of Labour and Social Studies.
He is a member of the Family and Demography Council to the President of the Republic of Poland, an advisory body in the fields of family, demographic, and social policy. Within this role, he contributes to analyses and recommendations addressing long-term demographic challenges, labour market dynamics, and social cohesion, bringing an approach grounded in data analysis, forecasting models, and quantitative methods.
As both principal investigator and researcher in numerous research and implementation projects, he has delivered expert analyses for companies in the consulting and IT sectors, as well as for public institutions, including the Chancellery of the President of the Republic of Poland, the Ministry of Family and Social Policy, and the Polish Economic Institute. He is also a co-author of the concept of Social Services Centres and of expert reports examining the relationship between science, higher education, and economic development.
Professor Kośny has been a long-standing lecturer on the Executive MBA programme at the Wrocław University of Economics and Business. He has undertaken research placements and study visits at institutions including the University of Cambridge, the University of Essex, the Università degli Studi di Milano, the Luxembourg Institute of Socio-Economic Research, and Bar-Ilan University in Tel Aviv. He has also taught and delivered guest lectures at universities in Canada, Japan, Luxembourg, Italy, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Brazil.
