Research Areas and Projects

Research at WUEB – where science meets real-world challenges

Research projects at the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business emerge at the intersection of academic knowledge, practical experience, and the pressing needs of society and the economy. Our researchers lead and contribute to initiatives funded by the National Science Centre (NCN), the National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR), Horizon Europe, the EEA and Norway Grants, NAWA, as well as regional and industry-specific programmes.

Our teams bring together expertise in public finance and energy transition, behavioral economics, data science and artificial intelligence, law, organizational psychology, and industrial process engineering. These diverse competencies drive projects that influence public policy, shape business decisions, and support sustainable regional development.

Three faculties, one research ecosystem

At WUEB, research is carried out across three distinct faculties that bring complementary expertise and interdisciplinary potential.

  • The Faculty of Production Engineering is a modern and dynamic academic unit combining applied research with real-world industrial practice. It trains engineers to meet the demands of a knowledge-based, innovation-driven, and sustainability-oriented economy. Key areas of research include: next-generation food technologies, sustainable production models, process optimization in manufacturing, and digital transformation in industry. Researchers collaborate with industry partners and leading academic centers in Poland and abroad.
  • The Faculty of Management conducts research in management and quality sciences, delivering both theoretical insights and practical solutions in collaboration with businesses and social partners. It educates future leaders in: IT and project management, business process management, HR, marketing, logistics, financial and managerial accounting, and economic law. Here, scientific thinking meets entrepreneurial spirit in an ecosystem that supports knowledge sharing, innovation, and collaboration.
  • The Faculty of Economics and Finance offers in-depth expertise in economics, finance, and international relations. Students and researchers explore topics such as: banking, financial markets, and econometrics, economic forecasting and statistical modeling, accounting and financial management, and the mathematics and informatics behind complex systems.

This integrated knowledge base supports interdisciplinary projects that respond to major societal challenges – from financing green transitions to the future of work and the role of AI in economic decision-making.

State-of-the-art research infrastructure – designed for impact

We invest in infrastructure that connects science with practice. Our research spaces are designed to foster innovation, learning, and implementation. Powered by institutional funding and supported by national and EU grants, our labs and workspaces continue to grow.

Key resources available to researchers and students include:

  • advanced analytical software (R, Python, NVivo, Stata, SPSS, Excel, Power BI)
  • tools for economic, behavioral, and statistical analysis
  • a podcast and video studio, as well as hybrid-ready classrooms
  • infrastructure for big data analytics, process modeling, and predictive insights

One of our signature assets is the Business Process Simulation Centre, equipped for strategy simulations, real-time process modeling, and decision-making games. It supports research in management, finance, and logistics, offering a safe space to test ideas, develop leadership skills, and explore responses to dynamic market conditions.

This infrastructure is more than a tool — it’s a catalyst for discovery, implementation, and collaboration. At WUEB, we believe every research project should lead not just to a publication, but to a recommendation, a policy, or a solution. Our research is an investment — in competence, in the future, in the common good.
