Week with WUEB Experts. Commentary, projects and milestones

Between 16 and 22 February 2026, experts from the Wrocław University of Economics and Business addressed issues with clear social and economic impact. Topics ranged from patients’ experiences within the healthcare system to regulatory debates, environmental policy and the implications of global trade agreements.

Patient versus the system

Monk fruit extract in an RCT: lower glycaemia and insulin response

The article presents findings from a randomised controlled trial on monk fruit extract. It explains key measures such as glycaemia and insulin response and their relevance for assessing nutritional effects.

The publication attracted strong international interest and received the distinction “Most Viewed Papers in 2025” in Nutrients.

Microwave processing in nutritional and silymarin analysis

WUEB expert: dr eng. Paulina Ropuszyńska-Robak

This project, funded by the National Science Centre, demonstrates how analytical techniques such as infrared and Raman spectroscopy can support the assessment of nutritional value and bioactive compounds in milk thistle. Microwave processing was used to accelerate sample preparation.
