The WaterSmartFat project shows how food research connects technology, responsible use of resources and the practical needs of the economy.
In food production, water is a resource that must be measured, saved and considered already at the design stage of new solutions. The project “WaterSmartFat: Ternary plant-based emulgels/oleogels as a breakthrough strategy for reducing the water footprint in food” won first place and received PLN 40,000 in funding in the second edition of the #NestleDlaNauki programme.

Nobel laureate Professor Eric S. Maskin to receive an honorary doctorate from WUEB
Professor Eric S. Maskin, winner of the 2007 Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel, will receive an honorary doctorate from Wroclaw University of Economics and Business.
This is the highest academic distinction awarded by the University. Professor Maskin’s work on mechanism design theory is particularly important for economics, as it helps explain how rules for institutions, markets and decision-making systems can be created.
The WUEB Senate awarded him the title of doctor honoris causa on 23 April 2026, and the ceremony has been announced as part of the University Day celebrations.
