XXI Entrepreneurship Olympiad – Regional Eliminations at UEW

On 6 March 2026, the regional eliminations of the 21st edition of the Entrepreneurship Olympiad were held at the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business under the theme “The Enterprise in the Face of Contemporary Challenges”. The event brought together 202 secondary school students from the region (Lower Silesian, Lubusz and Opole voivodeships), competing for a place in the national stage of one of the most prestigious economic competitions in Poland.

XXI Olimpiada Przedsiębiorczości

The contest began in the morning with a written test assessing knowledge of economics, management and current economic issues. Thirty participants with the highest test scores advanced to the afternoon stage, where they worked in teams on tasks requiring analytical thinking, interpretation of economic phenomena, and the ability to formulate and present their own conclusions. The results were evaluated by the Regional Committee composed of experts from the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business: Iwona Chomiak-Orsa, DSc, Professor at UEW, Tomasz Dyczkowski, PhD, Professor at UEW, and Joanna Mróz, PhD.. Based on the combined test scores and the Committee’s assessments, fifteen students were selected to compete in the national finals on 9 April 2026 at SGH Warsaw School of Economics, where they will vie, among other prizes, for admission to Poland’s top economics universities.

The regional eliminations at the Wrocław University of Economics were coordinated by Dr Małgorzata Matyja, Eng., who oversaw the running of the event and the cooperation with schools and participants from the region.

As the organiser emphasises, the Entrepreneurship Olympiad is an important space for bringing together young people interested in economics and the academic community of researchers and experts.

“The Entrepreneurship Olympiad has for years attracted students curious about the mechanisms driving the modern economy. For a university of economics, it is also a valuable opportunity to meet young people who wish to develop their interests in economics, management and entrepreneurship in an academic environment”

says Dr Małgorzata Matyja, Eng.

The Entrepreneurship Olympiad has for many years served as a platform for developing young people’s interest in economics and an opportunity for direct engagement with economics universities. The competition tests not only subject knowledge, but also the ability to analyse economic phenomena, understand market processes, and draw conclusions based on data and economic reasoning.

For the Wroclaw University of Economics and Business, participation in organising the event carries a broader significance. The University has long been involved in initiatives that enable young people interested in economics and entrepreneurship to develop analytical skills, an understanding of economic processes, and critical thinking about socio-economic phenomena.

Such events also provide an opportunity to demonstrate the role of the academic community in shaping future generations of individuals who will contribute to the economy, public administration and the business sector. The knowledge generated through economic research and the expertise of the Wroclaw University of Economics and Busieness faculty translate into the education of new leaders in economic and public life.
