The Branch of Wroc\u0142aw University of Economics and Business in Jelenia G\u00f3ra is developing research and teaching activities related to the space sector. The starting point is space logistics, interplanetary supply chains and the question of how to manage space projects that go beyond the traditional understanding of business projects.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n

The space sector is at a stage of development where its actors increasingly require not only engineers and physicists, but also competencies in management, logistics, marketing, finance, project management and social communication – all of which are developed at WUBE. It is worth emphasizing that interdisciplinary competencies are now a source of competitive advantage for entities operating in the global space market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the UEW Branch in Jelenia G\u00f3ra, this field has for years been developed by Dr Anna Baraniecka, Associate Professor at WUEB<\/a>, from the Department of Strategic Management and Logistics. Her research interests include, among others, sustainable space logistics, interplanetary supply chain management, CSR, social and business innovation, and management under uncertainty, including futures studies. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students, the LOGRiT Scientific Circle and the First Space Projects<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This area also inspires teaching and student initiatives supported by the Scientific Logistics Student Society operating at the Department of Strategic Management and Logistics and supervised academically by dr Anna Baraniecka, Associate Professor at UEW. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Students of the UEW Branch have explored topics related to management in the space sector, including space transportation, lunar mission logistics, space mining, eco\u2011logistics in outer space and analyses of the space sector. One example is the book by Agata \u0141azarewicz, Artificial Intelligence in Space Logistics. Current State and Development Perspectives<\/em>, supervised by Dr Anna Baraniecka, Associate Professor at UEW, Department of Strategic Management and Logistics, Wroc\u0142aw University of Economics and Business, published by Ad Rem in 2020 and distinguished by the Polish Space Agency.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Interdisciplinary Research – at the Intersection of Astrophysics and Management Sciences<\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The growing importance of interdisciplinary cooperation in scientific research on space exploration is well illustrated by publications combining astrophysics with management and quality sciences. In the article Interstellar Probe – Where is the \u201cNose\u201d of the Heliosphere?<\/em>, prepared jointly by Prof. Romana Ratkiewicz from the Space Research Centre of the Polish Academy of Sciences and Dr Anna Baraniecka, Associate Professor at WUEB, research on the heliosphere is combined with reflections on organizing future interstellar missions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The authors point out that such projects require not only astrophysical models but also considerations related to logistics, economics and finance, social communication and sustainable, responsible development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is an important signal for economic and management sciences. Space exploration involves enormous costs, long time horizons, high technological risk and the need for cooperation among many institutions. Under such conditions, questions about efficiency, responsibility, flow organization, resource use and the social justification of projects become an essential part of research work. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
