The European Union\u2019s trade offensive is gaining momentum, as shown by ongoing talks on new agreements with India and the Mercosur countries. The challenges involved, as well as the potential benefits, are discussed by\u00a0Artur Klimek, PhD, DSc, Professor at WUEB<\/strong>, in the Bankier.pl podcast\u00a0Gospodarczy\u00a0Punkt\u00a0Widzenia<\/em>.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The issue of the European Union\u2019s agreements with India and Mercosur countries has recently attracted attention far beyond the circle of professionals dealing with international relations. It is already clear that we are witnessing a new direction in the EU\u2019s economic policy, driven to a large extent by Donald Trump\u2019s abrupt introduction of tariffs, with the broader rivalry between the United States and China also looming in the background. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Above all, the European Union is seeking access to new markets for its goods, as well as greater independence from imports from China, including key inputs such as pharmaceutical precursors. At the same time, many groups, in Poland especially farmers, point to the risk of Europe being flooded with lower-quality products and raw materials from South America. In the case of India, concerns also focus on cheaper services, which could intensify offshoring and reduce employment in this sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

How high are the stakes in these negotiations? What could such agreements mean for the world and for Poland? And has the European Union already missed its opportunity? These questions were addressed by Artur Klimek, PhD, DSc, Professor at WUEB<\/strong>, from the Department of International Economic Relations, in the latest episode of the Bankier.pl podcast Gospodarczy Punkt Widzenia<\/em>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
