Behind these words stands a clear diagnosis of what hybrid operations seek to erode.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-style-default is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\" style=\"border-top-style:none;border-top-width:0px;border-right-style:none;border-right-width:0px;border-bottom-style:none;border-bottom-width:0px;border-left-color:var(--wp--preset--color--ast-global-color-1);border-left-width:4px;padding-top:0;padding-bottom:0\">\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>\u201cCommon sense and thinking. I believe this is a good remedy\u2014and a reminder of what we might call social glue: trust in state institutions, regardless of who holds power at a given moment. We may not fully agree with them, but let&#8217;s trust them. Without that trust, we can be played in ways that others decide.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>This \u201csocial glue\u201d &#8211; confidence in institutions, procedures and the security system has become a prime target. <\/strong>Prof. Skulski notes that hybrid conflict now includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>cognitive warfare: shaping what people think and how they think,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>political polarisation that makes societies easier to manipulate,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>narratives portraying the state as ineffective or chaotic.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">From an international-relations standpoint, security cannot be reduced to tanks and missiles. Poland acts within broader frameworks &#8211; the EU and NATO &#8211; and reactions to provocations must account for alliance commitments, political costs and long-term coherence. At the same time, the absence of a response can be as damaging as an emotional, improvised one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">Fear and Panic: What Happens to Us Under Threat?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Hybrid warfare unfolds not only at borders or in cyberspace, but also within the human mind. <\/strong>Psychotherapist Aleksandra Marciniak notes that heightened fear strengthens the need for control. Publicly critiquing the actions of security services, questioning decisions or \u201cexpertising\u201d online may create a sense of influence, yet in practice increases vulnerability to manipulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>From a psychological perspective, recognising and naming fear matters. It involves:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>asking what is within our control and what is not,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>grounding ourselves in verified facts and context,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>seeking support in shared conversations and collective processing of difficult news.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Security expert Dr R. Gwardy\u0144ski adds another essential layer: information hygiene. This means:<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>avoiding unverified, sensational sources,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>following official channels responsible for public safety,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>relying on media that have earned social trust rather than those driven by emotional escalation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In crisis communication, the absence of information opens space for disinformation &#8211; but an overload of chaotic messages creates similar effects. <\/strong>Here the role of experts is central: translating complex processes into clear, measured communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading has-large-font-size\">From Emergency Backpacks to 0.3% of GDP: Resilience in Practice<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At one point, the discussion turns to a simple symbol: the emergency backpack. Easy to mock, yet in this conversation it becomes something else entirely\u2014a tool for managing uncertainty.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Having a crisis kit prepared\u2014for floods, blackouts or sheltering at home\u2014helps people<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>acknowledge the reality of threats,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>regain a sense of agency, as highlighted by Prof. Skulski,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>avoid panic by knowing what to do \u201chere and now\u201d.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Colonel P.
